Have Bag, Will Travel: Dublin

Sometimes the best trips are the ones that aren't planned. Too often people get bogged down with the meticulous details of where you are going, how you are going to get there and at what time. Don't get me wrong. I like having a plan as much as the next traveler, but there is something to be said about those trips where everything falls into place without you even planning it.
Such is the case with how I got to experience Dublin in less than 36 hours. As my study abroad friends and I were planning what we wanted to do spring break - if you read the last post we went to Spain - we found out that flying straight to Alicante from Brussels was going to be very expensive. On whim, I looked up a flight to Ireland and was pleasantly surprised to see that to fly to Dublin, get a hostel and fly from there to Alicante was cheaper than flying straight to Spain. While there was some planning involved, it was surprisingly very easy to add an extra leg into our travel plans.

I wished I had spent more time in Dublin. We also went on Easter weekend so most everything was closed. My group and I got in late Friday night and only really had time to grab dinner and then bed. The next day we woke up early and took a free tour around the city. While not as visually pleasing as Edinburgh, Dublin had this gritty, artistic feeling that resonated with me. Many beautiful writers have come out of Ireland and they are clearly celebrated in Dublin. I enjoyed learning more about the country and visiting Trinity College. If only I had applied there for undergrad. Of course we had to go to the Guinness Factory where we learned the proper way to pour a pint and how to taste all the different notes in the beer.

That being said, we had to get up ungodly early the next day to catch our flight to Alicante. I really only had on day in Dublin. I can't really describe the city that well because I didn't get the chance to fully explore it. Thus I can affirmatively say, Have Bag, Will Travel AGAIN to Dublin. Anytime you want to go, let me know.
